Fancy Boy NOOOOOOO!
Aug. 6th, 2006 03:39 pmFancy Boy (my laptop) is dead. Unfortunately, I've got nobody to blame but my own bad self--I spilled a little bit of seltzer on it Friday night, and even though I turned it off and put it upside down to drain, it will not turn on again. And the last time we tried to plug it in, it started smelling bad (like plastic/wires smoking).
Crap. IBM may be able to fix it, but the preliminary price quoted for repairs (phone guy seemed to think it might be the motherboard) was roughly half the price of purchasing a new laptop. Crap. Am now trying to decide whether they were just highballing it (since it would be a happy surprise to then tell me something lower) and whether I could find someone here I trust who might be able to fix it for less. Crapnabbit.
