Cookies and a Meme!

Had the successor to last year's pie contest/hootenany this afternoon (this year, we did cookies), and lots of fun (and carbohydrates) were had. Now, after puzzle pirating and a bit of protein, a meme.

The first-sentences*-of-the-first-public-post-of-each-month meme hereby ensues:

Jan: We are back in Oaksterdam after the whirlwind tour of various east coast points.

Feb: I love me a good long weekend, and now that I've had two in a row (the City gives us Lincoln's B-day as well Presidents' Day), I've been able to catch up on some non-work goodness.

March: Hooray! My 3rd kyu test on Sunday*, which I have been obsessing over the last few weeks just a little bit, went pretty well overall, as did the tests of four other folks on Sunday.

April: 1) Monday: Softball game (squee! My first in seven years!) I talked myself onto one of our developer's new coed team.

May: In recent weeks, I've gotten into the gym at least twice a week for my 20 minutes bike/25-30 minutes elliptical/15 minutes weight machines for the arms.

June: Am periodically clicking reload to check election results.

July: Yay! Passport #2 made it safely through its inaugural journey with me on a too-short but lovely silly trip to Jamaica.

Aug: I was tagged by steluch, and I obey:

Sept: Advice to the coffee shop employees everywhere: If someone (say, me) is unable to verbalize their order while standing before you at 8:58am holding a thermos and looking at you beseechingly, offering caffeinated coffee is always a good bet.

Oct: So, after a 1-8-1 record last season, my softball team (the Roots) finished in second place this season (5-2-1).

Nov: So after some worrying that my late start to planning ahead (seriously, UC Berkeley called, and they'd like my master's back) for Thanksgiving would mean a slightly sad lonely weekend, things are turning out superfly.

Dec: My officemates and I have a deep and abiding fixation for all things marshmallow peeps*.

* For first sentences with a exclamatory like "Yay!" I'm including the next sentence. Because I can.

P.S. Thanks for the resume advice giving, folks!
